Braces Vs. Invisalign

Here at Mack Orthodontics, we prioritize the health and protection of our patients’ teeth above all else. By combining state-of-the-art orthodontic technology with a highly skilled staff, we are able to provide you with the most advanced and effective treatment. Some of the many services we provide include both traditional braces and invisalign.

Braces

The process of braces includes gluing metal brackets to your teeth and tying them together by wires and rubber bands. This way, dentists can create force and momentum to re-position and align teeth. The wires help to move the teeth, and the rubber bands work to correct the alignment. These brackets can be colored or made to closely match the color of your enamel. Typically, braces need to be worn for about 2 years, but this is dependent on the person.

Invisalign

While braces and invisalign are both designed to straighten your teeth and improve your smile, their processes and the way they look differ. Invisalign is designed to be invisible, and works by applying a series of clear, plastic aligners to your teeth to move them over time. In contrast to braces, the aligners can be removed while eating, brushing your teeth, etc. Depending on the specific case, the invisalign process usually takes between 5 months and a year, with office visits scheduled throughout for adjustments.
